The Reverend Matthew R. Stromberg was called and elected the 19th Rector of St. George’s Episcopal Church, Schenectady effective August 1, 2016.
A native son of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania Father Stromberg came to us from Christ Church, Cooperstown where he had been serving as Curate since May 2014, following his ordination to the priesthood in December of that year. The sole priest in residence since June 2015, he was responsible for teaching, preaching and pastoral care, including renewed activities with the local prison ministry, local and rural parishes, feeding the hungry, and expanding adult Christian education.
Settling into the Stockade community, Father Stromberg is quietly making his mark on St. George’s by supporting all of our beloved traditions, reinstating Bible Study, and the start-up of new ministries (i.e., “Theology on Tap”).
Father Stromberg holds a Masters of Divinity from the Trinity School for Ministry and a Bachelor’s cum laude, from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University.
Father Stromberg, his wife April, and two children, Helen Joy and Isaac Matthew, are pictured below.
