The fence project was initially underwritten by Fred Krings in memory of his wife Virginia, and later by their children in memory of both Fred and Virginia. The first three pictures show our church fence BDD (Before David DeSantis) and the last three pictures reflect our church fence ADD (After David DeSantis.) A big "thumbs up" for the nearly-completed project was given to David DeSantis by our senior warden David Kennison and vestrymember Mike Thiessen. A dedication is being planned when our new rector, Fr. Paul Blanch, arrives from England.

White Dragon sale held March 28, 2009 made us some money, and helped people to empty their closets. Here are some pictures.

Rectory Renovations are in progress. Here are some pictures of the progress through late February.

January
We held our Annual Meeting on January 25, 2009 (see the attached report from the meeting). David Kennison was elected for a second two year term as Warden. Daniel Machold, Michael Thiessen and Barbara Wengrovius were elected to second terms on the vestry, and Christopher Henry was elected to a first term on the vestry. Jonathan Pearson finished his second term on the vestry and was not eligible for reelection, however, he will continue in his position as parish treasurer.
After the primary meeting was conducted, everyone present was invited to join in a tour of the rectory to see how the renovations were coming. It offered an excellent opportunity for everyone to appreciate the magnitude of the project, and we received valuable input from several people on how best to handle some of the choices that need to be made regarding plumbing fixtures and kitchen layout.
Here are some pictures of the annual meeting. Pictures of the rectory renovations should be posted in the near future.

November
69 coats were delivered to Conifer Park per the notes for October.
Major renovation work on the Rectory began. Primary objectives are to replace three bathrooms and the kitchen. Our goal is to complete the improvements before we get a new Rector.
October
St George's second fall coat drive is underway, beginning Sunday, October 5th and extending until Sunday, November 16th. Donated coats will be delivered to Conifer Park, our partner for this project. Conifer Park is a private health care system that provides quality care to those suffering from alcoholism and chemical dependency and to the many whose lives are affected by the diseases of addiction. Conifer Park is located at 79 Glenridge Road in Glenville, NY and more information is available via their website www.coniferpark.com. Mens, Womens and children's donated coats may be gently used and can be hung on the racks located at the back of the church.
The Outreach Committee is hopeful of assisting St Stephens prison ministry during Advent for its last project of 2008. If anyone has ideas for ways in which St George's can fulfill its outreach ministry please share your thoughts with the committee.
September
Stockade Art Show
On September 7, 2008, the Stockade Art Show made its 56th appearance right outside the
doors of historic St. George’s Church. The Art Show has been a part of the Stockade
community for many years and is eagerly anticipated by artists and residents throughout
the region.
St. George’s sits right in the middle of this neighborhood event, in which the streets are
closed to traffic and local artists display their works. As is our custom, Georgians had
fun and a fundraiser at the same time. We open the church for free tours and operate St.
George’s Café – a fine purveyor of corn chowder, chili, hot dogs, hamburgers, Dragon
Bread, fried dough, and beverages to the hungry and the thirsty who are walking around
the Art Show. With great weather and music on the lawn, it is an enjoyable event for the
parish and gives us great visibility in the community.
This year, St. George’s Café realized approximately $1,500.00 from the event. It is a
profitable “labor of love” that also realized aching muscles, sore feet and community
fellowship beyond compare.

Backpacks and school supplies
In September 2008 we donated backpacks and school supplies to foster children through a partnership with Things of My Very Own.
July - August
SICM Summer Lunch Program
As part of St George’s commitment to serve the greater community, the parish is partnering with Schenectady Inner Cities Ministry (SICM) summer lunch program as a host site.
The SICM summer lunch program offers free nutritious lunches to all children 18 years of age and younger during the months of July and August. Last year the program served over 27,000 meals that assisted the nutritional needs of almost 850 Schenectady children.
The requirements of a host site are to receive the prepared, delivered meals, serve the children that come each day and return unused meals at the conclusion of the site’s allotted serving time. For a turnout of about 25 children a corps of 2 to 3 volunteers is needed each day to oversee the program.
St George’s will be hosting the program for 4 weeks in July starting the week of Monday, July 7th and ending Friday, August 1st and will be serving lunch from 12:30 to 1:45.
Volunteers interested in assisting with the SICM summer lunch program at St George’s are encouraged to contact the church office at 518-374-3163.

April - July
A new floor was laid in the church. Construction started on April 28, 2008. Our flooring was replaced, pew doors were painted, and the rug around the altar was replaced. We moved back into the church in mid July. These pictures depict the projects from start to finish.
