The Saint Cecelia Choir

St. Cecelia ChoirThe Adult Choir of St. George’s Church is a group of volunteer singers who lend their voices to enhance the liturgy. Under the direction of Andrew Krystopolski, the Adult Choir produces high quality music from a traditional Anglican English choral repertoire that includes appropriate propers for the Mass from The English Gradual and Anglican chant.

The only requirement for being part of the choir is the ability to match pitch. Members of the choir do not have to read music per se, but must share a love of singing, the desire to work hard for the good of the group and to assist in the sung portion of worship. The Adult Choir of St. George’s is a community committed to enhancing praise and thanksgiving through music.

Rehearsals are held Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Music theory, vocal expression, sight reading, warm up and exercises shape our rehearsals so that the group can work harmoniously together.

The Adult Choir is unique as they chant Propers from English, which is an important part of spiritual life and sung worship. They are scheduled from the 2nd Sunday in September through Trinity Sunday or mid-June for Sunday liturgy, feast days and other high holy days. For most Sunday services, the choir prepares 2 Anthems, a Complete Setting of the Mass Ordinary, as well as Chanting the Minor Propers of the Mass.

The Adult Choir is open to anyone 16 and older. Sopranos, altos, bass’ and tenors are always needed. If you are interested in coming together in music and fellowship at St. George’s, call Andrew at the Church Office (374-3163) to arrange for an informal audition.
