The Saint Nicholas Children's Choir

The St. Nicholas Youth Choir is thriving with enthusiastic young people who love to sing and are interested in learning church music. Choristers and their families need not be a member of St. George’s to participate in this community youth choir.
The St. Nicholas Youth Choir is open to all young people who love to sing and are able to match pitch between the ages of 7 and 15 years of age. Rehearsals are every Wednesdays from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, with dinner provided for choristers by parents on a rotating basis. It takes training and commitment but is well worth the effort as our youth come together in music and fellowship.
The St. Nicholas Youth Choir sings for 2 Sunday Masses a month. Choristers are trained using the VOICE FOR LIFE curriculum from The Royal School of Church Music. With the help of Voice for Life, they develop a singing culture in our Schenectady community which includes learning musical skills and using voice well, understanding the text of the pieces sung, general music theory principles, and how to work together as a team.
If you have a youth or know of a youth who would benefit from this training, it is an excellent opportunity for them to become a part of this musical educational experience. It is satisfying and rewarding. Call Andrew at St. George’s church office (374-3163) to arrange for an informal audition.
St. George’s Episcopal Church is an affiliate member of the Royal School of Church Music.
