SICM Summer Lunch Program
As part of St George’s commitment to serve the greater community, the parish is partnering with Schenectady Inner Cities Ministry (SICM) summer lunch program as a host site.
The SICM summer lunch program offers free nutritious lunches to all children 18 years of age and younger during the months of July and August. Last year the program served over 27,000 meals that assisted the nutritional needs of almost 850 Schenectady children.
The requirements of a host site are to receive the prepared, delivered meals, serve the children that come each day and return unused meals at the conclusion of the site’s allotted serving time. For a turnout of about 25 children a corps of 2 to 3 volunteers is needed each day to oversee the program.
St George’s will be hosting the program for 4 weeks in July starting the week of Monday, July 7th and ending Friday, August 1st and will be serving lunch from 12:30 to 1:45.
